LPG/CNG – Why Lubrication Is Needed

Flashlube Valve Saver Fluid forms a protective coating that separates metal surfaces and preventsmetal-to-metal contact, stopping Valve Seat Recession (VSR)—a condition where thevalve seat sealing face wears into the cylinder head.

Engines not originally designed for LPG/CNG can experience higher valve wear due to the combustionproperties of these fuels. LPG/CNG engines run hotter, and under extreme heat normal exhaust andinlet valves can lose hardness and tensile strength. Without lubrication, the valve face maypinpoint-weld to the seat. As the valve opens and rotates, these welds break, pitting both thevalve and seat. The pitted surface fails to seal, allowing even hotter exhaust gases to acceleratewear.
